Global Partners are leading firms and professional organizations that collaborate with WBL to advance the reach and rigor of our work. Drawing on their substantial institutional capacity and presence across multiple jurisdictions, they play an active role in supporting WBL’s global research efforts across numerous economies and thematic areas.

WBL’s engagement with global contributors follows a selective, WBL‑led process designed to ensure that partner institutions possess the requisite breadth, expertise, and institutional capacity to support rigorous, multi‑jurisdictional legal research. The process of joining the network as a global partner can be summarized as follows:

  • Organizations that wish to be considered may express interest through this short inquiry form. WBL reviews all submissions to determine whether an organization meets the established criteria for participation as a global contributor.
  • The WBL team coordinates with the firm’s pro bono coordinator or designated focal point to clarify the responsibilities of serving as a global contributor, outline the participation roadmap, and provide a detailed timeline.
  • The WBL team kindly asks the firm’s designated focal point to circulate an expression of interest form within the organization. This enables us to assess the topics and jurisdictions their representatives wish to contribute to
  • Participant(s) receive a link to the questionnaire based upon the selection indicated in the expression of interest form. The WBL team will refrain from contacting individual experts during data collection but may reach during the validation stage for additional clarifications.
  • Participant(s) complete the questionnaire(s). The WBL team stands ready if any support is required during this period.
  • When the questionnaires are completed, all respondents receive individual certificates of appreciation.

The WBL team engages with global law firms on a pro bono basis. By joining the global partner network, your organization:

  • Proactively contributes to legal reform and policy dialogue by leveraging the legal expertise of the lawyers at your firm.
  • Builds and cultivates partnerships with the World Bank Group and a worldwide network that includes more than 90 partner organizations.
  • Receives acknowledgment on our website, with all expert contributors receiving individual certificates of appreciation.
