Historical Data: 50 Years of Women's Legal Rights

The 50 Years of Women's Legal Rights historical data documents the evolution of gender parity in 100 economies from 1960 to 2010. It covers 14 indicators, including property ownership, marital regimes, inheritance, property titling, legal status and capacity, constitutional rights, and legal pluralism. Where relevant, the legal rights of unmarried and married women are reported separately. This unique dataset tracks legal reforms affecting women's rights in these areas, starting with current law and recording changes backwards in time to 1960. It is a useful tool for analyzing change over time and its impact on women's opportunities and socioeconomic advancement.
